Podcast: Anorexia? Depression? Hypochondiasis? No, it was Colon Cancer
Meet Christina. In 1994, at the age of 24, she was misdiagnosed with anorexia, depression and hypochondriasis only to find out she actually had early-onset colon cancer. Even with an extensive family history of cancer, it took her over a year and a half to get answers about what was really going on with her body. A few years after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, Christina and her family had genetic testing and discovered they had a strong family history of Lynch Syndrome (HNPCC). In 2010, My Gene Counsel Founder and CEO, Ellen T. Matloff, sat down with her to discuss the impact of this revelation on her family.
